We had our very first Silver Ring Thing at Hope in Jesus Ministries, Mulbarton, in May 2010. We had 45 students in attendance, ranging from 10 – 27 years of age. The material was taught over a period of 5 weeks, the first being an introductory evening of questions and answers. Thirty four students received their rings to our great excitement, and a special service was held on the 13th June 2010 at the church to which the students invited their loved ones and friends to witness the acceptance of their rings and promise made to God. During the last lesson, we invited 2 freelance journalists to witness the program and set up a panel with some of the students to answer questions posed to them by the two journalists. We were astounded by the answers and testimonies of so many of the students and Jesus made us proud of what He has done in their lives.
One journalist was an unbeliever, and had done the Silver Ring Thing before, just because he could, and after having heard the testimonies of the girls and boys made this statement , : “Next time I sure will do this the proper way”.He will receive an invitation when the next course is conducted.
We ran a little competition of a “bumper sticker” design of Silver Ring Thing and a 17year girl won. We had 20 stickers made in honour of her design, with a prize of R200.00 Her bumper sticker read, “ Although we haven’t met as yet, I’ll wait for you my groom.”, with a Silver Ring Thing picture next to it.

Our second group was smaller, consisting of 6 students aged 12-17 years, and they graduate this Sunday at the church. I have asked them to present us their testimony in writing and once we have this we shall forward it on to you together with pictures.
In 2011, we are trusting in the Lord to take the program and teach it at the schools within the South.
