HIN Event Feedback (May 2008)

On saturday 10 May 2008, turn the tide 4 children trained the attendees in the easy and applicable tool of  the Problem tree, and how this could assist in starting an initiative to benefit the community as a whole.

What have you learnt at today’s training event?

  • ‘How to tackle situations, how to deal with different problems in our societies, communities’
  • ‘As a church we have a responsibility to make a difference in our society’
  • ‘I have learned how to identify the needs or problems of children and how to come up with solutions in our society’
  • ‘I learn to help the children/youth in my community and change their lives’
  • ‘Basic approach in need identification in community’
  • ‘It is possible to become effective in my community’
  • ‘Don’t assume what the community needs and give them, but go to them and ask them.”How to take care of your communities; church loving community’
  • ‘How to identify community’s needs through the Tree method. To go into the community, identify a need our church can meet. Don’t close the church doors during the week, serve the community, church to contribute to morality in community’

What topics would you like to learn more about at future events?

  • ‘How to start the project of alleviating poverty and starting support groups for HIV/AIDS clients (the desire is there but lack of resources’
  • ‘Building sustainable projects in the church’
  • ‘How to get involved with children with their problems; getting training for life skills’
  • ‘Steps to take in practically solving problems after identifying; how to be innovative in using what they know and have to teach them’
  • ‘Effectively helping the community in ways that can alleviate most of the problems through the church ‘
  • ‘How to change the lives of our children in the communities in Godly ways’
  • ‘Making the church a faithful contributor towards community upliftment’
  • ‘I would like to learn more about how to start support groups or skills development programs and how to get sponsors’
