While you were practicing to play our anthem on your vuvu, turn the tide 4 children (ttt4c) joined hands with a number of ministry partners this winter in a successful campaign to help distribute 4,000 blankets to needy children around the country.
One of these partners is Build the Future, lead by Phillip Shapiro, who has been building personal relationships while bringing the gospel message to poorly resourced communities by alleviating poverty, injustice, hunger and AIDS in South Africa for the past two years. In May 2008, they launched their ‘Christmas in July’ initiative.
This winter, in partnership with ttt4c, they were able to distribute 200 blankets between two of their projects specifically aimed at destitute children.
They have two projects in Soweto; one is a Pre School were the first lot of blankets have already been delivered and the other is a soup kitchen were the second part of the blankets are going to be delivered on Saturday, the 31st of July 2010.
